Evermore- Alyson Noel

Summary:

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch. Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school— but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste. Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition. He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets. Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking— and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. She doesn’t know who he really is— or what he is. Damen is equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

Review:
This book was very addicting and an easy read. Ever (the main character's) life is turned upside down when her family dies in a crash. With her family dead, her father's twin sister Sabine, a high-powered lawyer who tries hard but has no idea what to do with a sullen teenager, takes her in and gives her all she could have wanted in her previous life as a popular cheerleader with a boyfriend. The move to California from Oregon isn't the only change: Ever hides herself in hoodies, plugs her ears with her iPod to try to drown out the psychic noise, and stays quiet and unobtrusive. She's considered a freak in the new school, where her only friends, Haven and Miles, are also looked down upon. Despite the scar and the hooded sweatshirts, she's still blonde and beautiful. But she's far from popular and she likes it that way.
A few weeks after the accident in the middle of the night she wakes up and finds her sister looking at her and from there on she keeps visting Ever everyday. Then one day at school a new boy arrived named Damen and all of the girls are all over him, but he is only really interested in Ever. Ever battles to keep a distance herself, to not fall for him, a man she knows almost nothing about, but he's the one person whose thoughts she can't hear, who has no distracting aura, and who miraculously dampens her psychic senses whenever he touches her or speaks.
I think that Ever and Damen will be a favorite fictional couple for anyone who reads this book. I would recomend this book to any paranormal romance books, or twilight and house of night fans. I give this book 4 stars.
